Making PSI Light Boxes

This is how Heath has built his
PSI units
(The large circular blue/red and green/yeelow lights
on R2’s dome front and back)
Here's a few pics
on how I made mine using the Fiber Optics blinker, a small pill bottle, a piece
of fluorescent light diffuser lens, and a piece of UHMW (Ultra High Molecular
Weight) plastic. Don't let that last one
scare ya, it's just a milky white nylon plastic. Like
Alex said, use a cutting board.
The point of the lens material
halfway along the bottle is to diffuse the lights. If not used, you will get
"hot spots" where the red/blue light is super bright in the center
and dim on the outside. It should illuminate the whole surface evenly.
Experiment with The distances first before cutting.

I sliced a groove wide enough for
the lens material about halfway along the pill bottle. Slice it almost al the
way through.

Slide the lens piece in and glue.
Cut a hole big enough for the LEDs in the lid of the
bottle and glue.
Cut the bottom of the pill bottle and replace with the UHMW. Glue the whole
works in the dome.
It was quite easy to make and the
results were excellent. I hope this
helps. I knew I took these pics for something!
